EEAI2025
ยทHi, this is Andrea.
This October I attended EEAI2025 (European Conference on EDGE AI Technologies and Applications) in Naples.
I took this as an opportunity to visit my granparents and relatives (my parents are from Naples),
(technically from Caserta, and someone from Caserta would hate being referred to as someone from Naples. You know, grotesque tribalism is really a thing for Italians),
I hadn't seem them in a while, I always pretend to be too busy with
uni, work and research.
but recently my grandpa passed away, so I started giving things the right time for me, and the right priorities for me.
I also took this as an opportunity to visit Naples mostly by myself and sometimes with my cousin, my personal Cicero, that studies at Federico II. The organization committee really bet on the right horse, this is a photo from the balcony of the conference, and there's only one thing I can say: "mamma mia, quanto e' bella Napoli"

It was a beautiful place and the weather was mostly beaufiful as well.
This trip was also full of coincidences. Just to give
you an idea: my dad's name is Giovan Giuseppe,
and the room I presented in is called room San Giovan Giuseppe, named after
the Saint. San Giovan Giuseppe spent there last years of his life. What a coincidence, really.
I never expected to find my father's name anywhere beyond the confines of his own ID,
everyone just calls him Peppe or, if you are a really
close friend of his, Pino
seriously, don't do it if he doesn't know you well, he's gonna look very strange at you.
if you don't trust me how rare his name is, just check it yourself on italian national statistics center
It has been my first time presenting alone my own paper at a conference.
If I told you I completely enjoyed the conference I would be lying,
maybe I haven't attended the right sessions, maybe I haven't met
the right people. I created a few connections but expected way more
from an international conference. Btw, this is a photo of me looking
very serious, presenting my very serious work in my very serious suit
please, catch the irony :).
